Fine Arts and Interior Design (Club A: 6-8 grades; Club B: 3-5 grades)

In the Fine Arts and Interior Design Club students will explore and try different means of expression in drawing and painting as well as become familiar with concepts and application of interior design. Each class will include a mini lesson/demo and lots of guided practice. All materials needed are provided during class and included in the fee.

Session 1: Drawing

We will work in pencil, pen and charcoal exploring line, shape, form, playing with light and shadow. Students will train their eye to really see what is there and how to represent their vision on paper. Students will work from still life set ups and perhaps each other as models.

Session 2: Painting

We will work with acrylics on canvas pad and in a relaxed, methodical way learn to create a painting from sketch to finish. Students will work on mixing their own color palette and work from still life set ups and photographs.

Session 3: Interior design

We will explore different topics such as the design process, floor plans, scale, design history and styles, sustainability (“green design”) color palettes and space planning. Students will create a complete rendered floor plan as their final project.
