Video Game Creation Level 1
Prerequisite: Experience with computers
Students create their very own computer video game from the ground up. Utilizing GameMaker® software, our teachers will walk through every step of developing a customized functional arcade-style video game. This includes creating various objects
such as the player, enemies, bonuses, designing multiple levels, assigning health and lives, and programming object movements. In addition to having fun and gaining a sense of accomplishment, students learn the elements of good game design, drag-and-drop
programming, and incorporated logic such as repeat loops, conditional statements, object parenting.

Video Game Creation Level 2
Prerequisite: Experience with GameMaker®
Learn the foundation of platform games such as the classic Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. This class is for those already familiar with GameMaker®, who want to take their game creation skills to the next level. Students will examine gravity, squishing enemies, drawbridges, platforms, bosses, levels, effects, and learn how to keep expanding their skills on game design as well as programming logic. Students must have already taken Video Game Creation - Level 1 class with us or in some way demonstrate your ability to keep up with this class as basic GameMaker® skills will be assumed.

Mobile App Game Design - Game Salad® Level 1
Prerequisite: Experience with computers
Students will design and build games for the Apple® iPhone® or iPad®. Students will use the user-friendly Game Salad® interface to create the navigation, controls, instructions, characters and setting to an exciting game from their imagination. The teacher will also cover the history and genres of handheld games which will help students think through the type and design of their game.

Mobile App Game Design - Game Salad® Level 2
Prerequisite: Experience with Game Salad®
Students will further develop the games they created in Level 1 class or create a new, more sophisticated game with concepts learned in this Level 2 class. Students will explore advanced concepts such as menu trees, prototyping, testing, publishing, advertising and developing social games.

Role Playing Game Design - RPG Maker® Level 1 
Prerequisite: Experience with computers
Create heroes, villains, dungeons and monsters using the immensely-popular RPG (role-playing game) development tool. The tool has a drag and drop interface making it easy to learn for beginners. Students learn concepts of tiling, pixel art and if/then statements for a 2-dimensional game with story dialogue boxes, special powers, and conflicts between good and evil.

All classes are week-long, Monday through Friday. Each day, students are in a class for 90 minutes, then take a 30-minute break and return to the same class for 90 minutes. If a student is participating half-day, the student will take one class, either in the morning OR in the afternoon. If a student is participating full-day, the student will take one class in the morning and one class in the afternoon. Please go to "Schedules" to find when specific classes are offered by location.
